Launch of the campaign ‘Drinking is not a sport!'
From now on, sports clubs in the Netherlands will have extra resources to help them deal with serving alcohol in a responsible way. The message is clear: no alcohol at all to be served to the under 16s, and no spirits to the under 18s. Volunteers serving at the bar are advised that when in doubt, standard practice should be to ask everyone who looks younger than 20 to show ID.

Launch of www.dementiedebaas.nl.
As a carer, how do you cope with dementia symptoms in the person you are caring for? The new website www.dementiedebaas.nl has been launched by the Trimbos Institute, Alzheimer Nederland and Stichting Geriant in response to the need for information, advice and coordinated care and offers an online course for informal carers. January 2009 sees the start of a two-year effect measurement study designed to provide a scientific basis for the effectiveness of the course. Financing has been provided by health insurer Univé-VGZ-IZA-Trias (UVIT). Once the study has been completed, the online course will be made available for all carers of people with dementia.

Trimbos staff take part in the Nijmegen 7 hills event.
