The renovation and extension works at the Trimbos Institute are complete. Improvements have been made to the entrance hall, ground floor and part of the first floor. The heart of the Institute is now the Ti-plaza, a space for meeting, working, lunching and (informal) gatherings. New multi-functional meeting rooms have also been created. Furthermore, Trimbos has adopted the Beautiful People concept. The coffee used in the coffee machines is certified by the Rainforest Alliance and is 100% eco-friendly. A percentage of the profits goes to artists with an intellectual disability who are affiliated to the Beautiful People Foundation.

The Trimbos Institute participates in the Global Initiative on Diabetes and Depression. The purpose of this initiative is to create a suitable care model for people suffering from diabetes and depression. In addition, a network will be set up consisting of experts and organisations dealing with patients who have these two conditions. Trimbos aims to chart the prevalence of this comorbidity and to create an overview of treatment options. The preliminary results of the initiative are to be presented at a conference in late April 2009.
