The Addenda on ‘Elderly' to the Anxiety and Depression guidelines is endorsed by the various professional associations. The addenda indicate whether, and if so to what extent, the recommendations in the guidelines for dealing with adult patients should be adapted with regard to the diagnosing, treatment and support of elderly with depression or anxiety disorders. The Addenda were formulated within the framework of the National Action Programme on Quality in mental health and addiction care of the Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development (ZonMw).
In preparation for the new drugs bill of the Ministries of Health, Justice and Internal Affairs, the Trimbos Institute together with the Research and Documentation Centre (WODC) of the Justice Ministry are to conduct an evaluation of 30 years of drug policy in the Netherlands. The study will examine the extent to which the objectives of this policy have been realised.
Karin Monshouwer (lecturer and researcher with the Trimbos Institute) receives her Ph.D. degree at the University of Utrecht for her thesis ‘Welcome to the house of fun', epidemiological findings on alcohol and cannabis use among Dutch adolescents'. Her research shows that between 1992 and 2003 increasing numbers of younger adolescents were drinking alcohol. Cannabis use did not increase further after 1996. The dissertation is based on the data of two nationally representative studies: The Dutch National School Study and Health Behaviour in School-aged Children.
